Cardiff Street Chess
For those who like the outdoor city life - what could be better? Every fortnight enthusiasts of all abilities converge on Hayes Island, by day an open cafe area and by night an open space within the bustle of Cardiff's restaurant and night scene. This picture was taken on June 13th when there were nine tables of chess plus a few spectators enjoying the action.
It is all free and non-commercial so come along and enjoy the summer evenings. Some sets and boards are provided but it is a good idea to bring your own if you have one. Clocks are optional, players agree between themselves whether to use them.
Address: Hayes Island, Cardiff CF10 1AH - close to the museum and St Davids Shopping Centre, and only a few minutes walk from the central Station.
